DaVita to provide dialysis in Taiwan

Taipei patients to get dialysis treatment from DaVita.

Kidney care specialist DaVita has announced today (January 21st) that it will be forming a partnership with Riches Healthcare (RHC) that will see the leading pharmaceutical company provide dialysis treatment to patients in Taiwan.

Four specialised clinics will be set up in and around the capital city of Taipei, with DaVita taking a majority share in the joint venture as part of its Asian expansion strategy. The venues are currently under the ownership of RHC.

Atul Mathur, president of Asia Pacific at DaVita, said: "This acquisition is an exciting opportunity not only to expand into Taiwan, but also to do so with a well-respected and highly experienced team."

He added that, with the addition of Taiwan, "DaVita is now serving patients in five countries across [Asia]" and that the company hopes to aid Taipei with a number of plans designed to restore clinical excellence to the city.

DaVita's other operations include 1,912 outpatient dialysis centres across the US, which serve approximately 150,000 patients.
