Sanofi-Aventis and Famar expands their cooperation as a new agreement has been set for a manufacturing plant in Madrid.
An agreement has been achieved between Sanofi-Aventis and Famar under which the latter will integrate Sanofi’s plant in Madrid, into its network of 11 sites across Europe. Sanofi-Aventis and Famar began their collaboration in 2001 when Famar acquired Sanofi’s plant in L’Aigle, France. The new agreement expands the partnership and develops the manufacturing activity of the plant.
The plant produces solid and sterile forms including freeze-drying, and currently supplies more than 50 markets. According to the agreement, all employees of the plant will be transferred.
Sanofi will continue to source certain products from the site through a supply agreement. Famar will invest in developing and expanding the plant’s sterile manufacturing capacities, as well as exploring the external manufacturing market in Spain.
