  • Sodium glycocholate

    Product Sodium glycocholate

VIO Chemicals offers Sodium glycocholate as advanced bile acid component for robust drug formulation and delivery.  Technical profile:
    • Technical name: Sodium glycocholate
    • CAS No: 863-57-0
    • Empirical formula: C26H42NNaO6
    • Molecular weight: 487.60
Advantages: Recently, there has been a growing use of bile acids and their derivatives as absorption enhancers for drug delivery. Due to their high solubility, bile acids derivatives act as emulsifying agents and drug carriers in the form of mixed micelles, bilosomes and chemical conjugates with drug molecules. Sodium glycocholate and Glycocholic acid, together with soy phosphatidylcholine, have frequently been used in mixed micelles dosage forms for intravenous administration. The role of bile acid derivatives in promoting drug permeation has been experimentally illustrated in various pharmaceutical formulations. Applications include oral, nasal, occular, pulmonary and rectal drug delivery, as well as parenteral techniques to overcome the blood-brain-barrier. Features:
    • Excellent biocompatibility
    • Natural emulsifying ability
    • Amphiphilicity
    • High aqueous solubility
Benefits: The use of mixed micelles of bile acids as solubilizers has great benefits for drug formulation and delivery:
    • They are biocompatible
    • They are natural components of the blood
    • They are available in parenteral quality
    • They are easy to manufacture
    • And, unlike synthetic solubilizers, they do not bear any risks for anaphylactic reactions
Applications:  Mixed micelles formulations based on Sodium glycocholate or Glycocholic acid are used in several injectable products to solubilize poorly water soluble drug substances for intravenous administration, such as Konakion MM®, Rycarfa®, Cernevit®, Phosphogliv® and many more.
  • Low endotoxin Trehalose (EP, USP/NF, JP)

Product Low endotoxin Trehalose (EP, USP/NF, JP)

VIO Chemicals offers high quality low endotoxin and GMO-free Trehalose dihydrate and Trehalose anhydrous, for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications, in a very competitive price.    Technical profile:
    • Technical name: α, α-D-Trehalose dihydrate
    • CAS No: 6138-23-4
    • Empirical formula: C12H22O11 * 2H2O
    • Molecular weight: 342.3 + 36.0
Advantages: Trehalose is a non-reducing disaccharide consisting of two molecules linked by an α, α-1, 1 bond. There are several properties of trehalose that make it an excellent stabilizer in biopharmaceutical formulations. In particular, trehalose is used to stabilize protein-based pharmaceuticals, such as monoclonal antibodies in injectables and other protein molecules that are often degraded by freezing, lyophilization and storage for long periods.  Features: Trehalose demonstrates exceptional stability. It is not easily hydrolyzed by acid and the glycosidic bond is not cleaved by α-glycosidase. Trehalose is typically found in the dihydrate form and is characterized by its low hygroscopicity. The water content of the dihydrate crystal remains stable at approximately 9.5% during exposure to relative humidity up to 92%. During various desiccation processes, including freeze drying and spray drying, Trehalose readily dries as an amorphous material with high glass transition temperature (Tg > 100°C), the highest of the disaccharides. Compared to sucrose, Trehalose’s Tg is about 3°C higher. This important physicochemical property is relevant for shortening drying times dramatically.  Benefits: The stabilizing benefits of Trehalose include but are not limited to:
    • Monoclonal antibodies (mAbs)
    • Fusion proteins
    • Antibody fragments (fAbs)
    • Peptides
    • Stem cells
    • Vaccines
Applications: Trehalose is contained in several commercially available therapeutic products, including Herceptin®, Avastin®, Lucentis® and Advate®.  Compliance:  EP, USP/NF, JP

Applications: 2-Methyl-1-pyrroline is a versatile synthetic scaffold, thanks to the variety of reactivity options provided by its structure. From starting material of key imidazole functionalities and indole cores to precursor of the common histamine H3 receptor chiral pharmacophore, 2-Methyl-1-pyrroline has been widely used to access structurally decisive moieties found in a wide range of biologically and pharmaceutically relevant compounds.
  • Sodium stearyl fumarate, micronized (EP, USP/NF, JP)

Product Sodium stearyl fumarate, micronized (EP, USP/NF, JP)

VIO Chemicals can offer micronized Sodium stearyl fumarate with controlled D50 particle sizes of 10 μm and below. Technical profile:
    • Technical name: Sodium stearyl fumarate
    • CAS No: 4070-80-8
    • Emprirical formula: C22H39NaO4
    • Molecular weight: 390.53
Advantages: Sodium stearyl fumarate is a lubricant used in the manufacturing of tablets, capsules and  other dosage forms. Due to its high hydrophilicity, it is especially designed for robust and high performance formulations, where the commonly used lubricating agents fail to provide tablets of adequate hardness, stability, content uniformity, disintegration and dissolution rate. Particle size distribution of the used Sodium stearyl fumarate is a key factor for optimal tableting results. Especially the influence of the particle size on disintegration time is very well documented. Reduced particle sizes are directly linked with higher disintegration times combined with small effects on tablet hardness only. Features:
    • Hydrophilic
    • Highly soluble
    • Flexible but controlled particle size
    • High degree of API compatibility
    Benefits:
    • Improved drug stability
    • Faster dissolution rates
    • Harder tablets
    • Shorter disintegration times
    • Fast formulation development
Applications: Sodium stearyl fumarate has already been used in formulations of a great number of APIs, including: Omeprazole, Esomeprazole, Ramipril, Diclofenac, Ibuprofen, Irbesartan, Lamotrigin, Levetiracetam, Levofloxacin, Metoprolol, Ritonavir, Pravastatin, Sildenafil, Oseltamivir, Telmisartan, Valsartan and Sitagliptin. Compliance: EP, USP/NF, JPE
