BASALOG?

Biocon offers a wide range of metabolic which includes basalog. Composition: insulin glargine (rdna origin) 100 iu. Benzyl alcohol, 1% w/v (as preservative). Mechanism of action: insulin glargine has low aqueous solubility at neutral ph. At ph 4, as in the glargine injection solution, it is completely soluble. After injection into the subcutaneous tissue, the acidic solution is neutralized, leading to formation of micro precipitates from which small amounts of insulin glargine are slowly released resulting in a relatively constant concentration/time profile over 24 hours with no pronounced peak which allows once-daily dosing as a patient?s basal insulin. Indications: it is indicated for effective hba1c control for the treatment of adults, adolescents and children of 6 years or above with diabetes mellitus
