DNDi Pledges to Tackle Paediatric HIV/AIDS

DNDi will work with partners to create an affordable therapy for children suffering from HIV/AIDS.

The Swiss-based organisation Drugs for Neglected Disease initiative (DNDi) has pledged to tackle paediatric HIV/AIDS with the launch of a new product development programme.

DNDi will work with partners to create an affordable therapy for children suffering from HIV/AIDS that is easy to administer, easily dispersible and better tolerated than current medication options.

The organisation's first priority will be a first-line protease inhibitor-based regimen for use in children under three years of age that improves on current drugs, while the formula must also be compatible with tuberculosis drugs.
