Dr. Paul Lohmann says organic salts make ideal APIs

The company says organic salts are frequently used as minerals to counteract deficiencies due to their favourable bioavailability.

German manufacturer and mineral salt developer Dr. Paul Lohmann has announced a portfolio of organic salts that are ideally suited as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and available with API documentation.

The company produces 400 different salts in a total of 7,000 different specifications, several of which have applications as ingredients in the pharmaceutical industry.

One such product is potassium gluconate, a readily water-soluble source of potassium used to treat hypokalemia and associated symptoms such as hypertension, as well as respiratory and digestive problems. Hypokalemia refers to a lower-than-normal level of potassium in the bloodstream and can be life-threatening in severe cases.

The company also manufactures zinc citrate and zinc gluconate for use in pharmaceuticals. Both compounds are effective at replenishing zinc levels in the body, which strengthens the immune system and promotes wound healing.

Dr. Paul Lohmann has been operating since 1886 and today supplies specialty salts to global customers in the fields of food, nutritional supplements, cosmetics, animal nutrition and industrial applications, as well as pharmaceuticals.

The company says its expertise in the chemical and physical modification of mineral salts and customer-oriented corporate philosophy makes it the ‘ideal partner to turn your ideas into reality’.
