GE Healthcare Teams up with Clino to Accelerate Alzheimer's Research

GE Healthcare and Clino Ltd have announced a joint research project with a view to developing new diagnostic solutions for Alzheimer's disease.

GE Healthcare Medical Diagnostics has announced a new research collaboration with Clino Ltd that should help to improve imaging techniques for use in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease.

The companies will work together to discover and develop in vivo imaging tracers for tau proteins, which are thought to begin accumulating in the brain ten years before the onset of Alzheimer's symptoms.

It is thought that by conducting tau PET imaging on individuals who have tested positive for beta amyloid protein plaques, it may be possible to identify those patients who are at particularly high risk of developing Alzheimer's.
