Global H1N1 vaccines market to decline

A new TechNavio report has made predictions about the global market for H1N1 vaccines

The global market for H1N1 influenza vaccines is likely to decline over the coming years, new research suggests.

According to the latest report from TechNavio, increased awareness among people in developed nations has contributed to market growth in recent times.

However, the research firm says that the easing pandemic situation around the world may pose a challenge to growth of the market, as much of its recent growth has been due to the trend for pre-pandemic vaccinations.

As a result, TechNavio predicts that the market will decline at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of -33 per cent between 2011 and 2015.

An analyst from the company's healthcare team said there has been an increased focus on pre-pandemic vaccination in the majority of developed countries.

"Various governing bodies are aiming at immunising people years in advance against a flu pandemic," the analyst observed. "The focus is to avoid a rush to create vaccines once a new pandemic starts.

"Vaccine manufacturers are involved in producing pre-pandemic vaccines for better preparedness for the next major outbreak.''
