Sartorius earns silver in EcoVadis CSR rating
The company’s engagement in Corporate Social Responsibility includes reducing consumption of water in manufacturing by using innovative technologies.
Sartorius has been awarded for its responsible activities in the areas of environment, labour practices, ethics and sustainable procurement. The company’s engagement in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) ranges from supporting the United Nations Global Compact to reducing consumption of water in manufacturing by using innovative technologies, for example, to holding comprehensive employee training courses on work safety. By earning the silver recognition level in the EcoVadis CSR rating platform, Sartorius has positioned itself among the best 30% of the companies assessed.
Companies are increasingly expected to take responsibility not only for their own business activities but also for sustainable supply chain management. EcoVadis operates a platform that provides CSR ratings for global supply chains. The methodology EcoVadis uses in its assessment is based on international CSR standards, such as the international Global Reporting Initiative, the United Nations Global Compact and the ISO 26000 Standard providing guidance on social responsibility. The analytical system covers 21 sustainability criteria for the environment, social aspects, ethics and sustainable procurement. More than 45,000 companies in over 150 countries use EcoVadis. The objective is to create transparency and trust in customer-supplier relationships. EcoVadis assessment is also designed to help drive continuous improvement and minimize the risks of non-compliance with labour and environmental standards.
Sustainability is gaining growing importance worldwide. Customers and investors are increasingly interested in receiving information on environmental practices, business ethics and corporate governance. The silver recognition level confirms the importance that Sartorius attaches to long-term-focused, responsible activities with regard to natural resources, as well as to business partners and staff. As Sartorius moved up in its ranking from bronze to silver, this underlines the company’s progress in the area of CSR.
