Science Warehouse Wins Contract with Global Health Research Leader

Science Warehouse, one of the fastest growing companies in the UK e-business sector, has won a 3-year contract to deliver purchasing process efficiencies and substantial cost savings for the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine by implementing its market-leading technology.

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health. Its mission is global; to work in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice.

Dr David Hames, Chairman of Science Warehouse, said: “Science Warehouse is proud to have become the leading e-marketplace solution for top UK academic and research institutions, with an outstanding track record of delivering what we promise. We are delighted to welcome the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine to the Science Warehouse community and look forward to working in partnership with them to deliver on our shared goals of supporting world-class research and efficient cost-effective procurement.”

Science Warehouse e-procurement solutions are chosen by leading organisations that want to improve procurement control and minimise cost but simultaneously deliver for their staff a highly intuitive “Amazon-like” user experience that fits naturally into their preferred way of working online. Science Warehouse solutions offer complete supplier reach, addressing both catalogue and non-catalogue spend, from the most complex research item to the most commonplace office item.

Keith Flanders, Head of Procurement at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, said: “The Science Warehouse e-marketplace portal has been used by major public research bodies as a tool to support research, and deliver savings across the academic community. The School is a world leader in its field, and this e-marketplace solution will support some of our key processes and help us to achieve increased efficiencies, in working towards our core goal of improving health and health equity in the UK and worldwide.”

The rapid growth of Science Warehouse, more than 30% in the last year alone, reflects the increasing recognition of the quality of our offering by buying organisations and their staff. Science Warehouse now hosts over 10 million products across all purchasing categories and connects more than 60,000 users with over 18,000 suppliers for electronic trading. In the UK public research sector, Science Warehouse solutions have been implemented by more than 22 of the UK’s leading universities, all seven of the UK’s Research Councils and a range of other leading research bodies.
