Takeda Announces URL Pharma Acquisition
Takeda is enhancing its gout treatment portfolio with the acquisition of URL Pharma.
Takeda Pharmaceutical Company has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary Takeda America Holdings is to acquire URL Pharma.
The privately held pharmaceutical company will be acquired for an upfront payment of $800 million, along with performance-based payments in the future.
It will subsequently be managed by Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA.
Douglas Cole, president of Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA, revealed that the deal will expand the company's gout treatment portfolio, as URL Pharma's lead product is Colcrys (colchicine), which is used to treat and prevent gout flares.
