Taking the complexity out of global track and trace requirements
With time running out, Meditraq launches to simplify serialisation data challenge.
A new serialisation implementation partner has formed to assist the increasing number of companies needing to meet the data requirements of looming global regulation changes.
In general, the pharmaceutical industry has been slow to adopt serialisation. The Tjoa Group started exploring the potential of track & trace in 2007, being one of the first in the world to realise full serialisation and aggregation from blister pocket to pallet in 2008. It is not until recently, however, that the industry has started to introduce regulations such as the EU Falsified Medicines Directive (FMD) and the US Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA).
"Serialisation is a huge task and those companies who have delayed their preparations are now facing an uphill battle to compliance. For many companies at this late stage, implementing their own solution is simply not achievable due to resource constraints, and for others, cost is a huge barrier. Timing is crucial and it is running out, which is why many companies are turning to partners to help ensure a fully compliant solution is in place ahead of the deadlines," said Dexter Tjoa, Co-founder of Meditraq.
With the pharmaceutical industry struggling to meet serialisation requirements in over 55 countries, Meditraq supports its customers with the deployment of serialisation software solutions.
Part of the Tjoa Group, together with contract packaging organisation (CPO) Tjoapack, the newly formed business provides an outsourced solution to the serialisation data challenge, supporting companies with the implementation and management of technology for the safe and secure exchange of serialisation data.
Commenting on the announcement of the company launch, Dexter Tjoa said: “One of the greatest challenges of complying with global track and trace requirements is the complexity of managing and sharing huge volumes of data throughout the pharmaceutical supply chain.
“Given our team has been involved in the serialisation world for over 25 years through Tjoapack’s contract packaging services, we have recognised a need in the market for greater support to overcome the serialisation data challenge, and this has driven the decision to establish Meditraq. Quite simply, we take care of our customers’ serialisation data requirements, meaning hassle-free compliance with global regulations.”
Meditraq’s services include onboarding all supply chain partners and internal manufacturing sites with the necessary software to ensure serialisation data management and exchange. In addition, it encompasses ongoing support and compliance services such as the management of master data, sending data between relevant parties, monitoring transactions, and solving exceptions involving serialised data.
"Currently, Meditraq’s primary focus is helping our customers to implement level 4 and 5 systems that can cater for serialisation data management and exchange, while also onboarding supply chain partners. Once the compliance deadlines have passed, we will continue to provide ongoing support for our customers in terms of managing and transferring the vast amounts of serialisation data that will be generated. We will also be helping them to adapt as the regulatory landscape evolves, ensuring they remain compliant," said Dexter Tjoa.
