It stimulates the adrenal cortex to produce corticosteroids, mineralocorticoids, and, to a lesser extent, androgens.In veterinary medicine, tetracosactide (cosyntropin) is used as a diagnostic for detecting adrenal disorders in dogs, horses, and cats.
