Tjoapack doubles packaging capacity with €10M investment at Netherlands facility

The expansion includes the addition of automated and high-speed production lines.

Tjoapack has doubled packaging capacity with an expansion of its facility in Etten-Leur, Netherlands following an investment of more than €10 million.

The contract packaging organisation (CPO), which specializes in primary and secondary packaging of oral solids and injectables, has added 10 new production rooms and increased the size of its Dutch facility from 8,400sqm to 11,500sqm.

The expansion includes the addition of three new production lines, as well as a fully automated packaging line for vials, with the capacity of packing 12 million vials per year. There are also two new high-speed production lines for oral solids, capable of packing over 500 blisters per minute each.

The expansion brings the total number of packaging lines for blisters, vials and bottles at the facility to 18.

This is the latest investment by Tjoapack following its acquisition of US healthcare packaging firm Pharma Packaging Solutions (PPS) last year.

The company is also said to have plans in the pipeline for a new packaging line for pre-filled syringes and aims to purchase more blister machines which will increase capacity by the end of the year.

Tjoapack has also recently invested in its warehousing and cold chain capabilities to meet increased customer demand for its added value logistics services.
