UK Announces Largest-ever Health Research Investment

Included in the investment is four new biomedical research units, specialising in research into the treatment of dementia, and further research into cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

The UK Government has announced the nation's largest-ever investment into early-stage health research with its five-year funding worth £800m for research into diagnosis, prevention and treatment.

 

The investment will be used to develop partnerships between the UK's National Health Service (NHS) and universities through the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) in order to provide new facilities for the NHS itself and develop the UK's science and research base.

 

Included in the investment is four new biomedical research units, specialising in research into the treatment of dementia, and further research into cancer, diabetes and heart disease.
