Countries around the World 'Investing in Biopharma'

A report suggests that America's biopharmaceutical dominance could be under threat as countries around the world are investing in the sector.

America's global leadership in medical innovation could be at risk unless the US steps up its efforts to meet those of other countries, a new study suggests.

 

Research published by the Battelle Technology Partnership Practice on behalf of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) shows that many countries are investing in pro-innovation policies and programmes in a bid to 'lure' biopharmaceutical companies away from the US.

 

Incentives for research and development (R&D) are being expanded, despite increasing budget pressures and cuts in other areas of public expenditure.
