CPHI Pharma Awards 2016 opens with four extra categories

Entry submission is now open: the awards bestow recognition on the industry’s most outstanding achievements.

CPHI Worldwide, announces the opening of the annual CPHI Pharma Awards for 2016, with four additional categories covering the entire pharmaceutical supply chain. Now in their 13th consecutive year, the CPHI Pharma Awards — widely acknowledge as the most prestigious in the industry — will honour companies and individuals driving the pharma industry forward through innovations, new approaches, technologies and strategies.

This year’s awards are open to applications from across the pharmaceutical industry and are split into 12 categories, four more categories than in 2015, in an effort to accommodate the increased demand from companies across the pharma supply chain. Emphasising the burgeoning reputation of the CPHI Pharma Awards, in 2015, there was a 100% increase in entries and CPHI is expecting even more interest in 2016.

Following the trends in the market, and the growth in APIs and excipients, this category has now been split into two separate awards: ‘Excellence in API Development’ and ‘Excellence in Formulation and Excipients’. A new category is also being created to acknowledge achievements in drug delivery devices - ‘Excellence in Pharma: Drug Delivery Devices’.

Additionally, new categories include ‘Excellence in Pharma: Regulatory Procedures and Compliance’, ‘Excellence in Pharma: Analysis, Testing and Quality Control’, and ‘Excellence in Pharma: Corporate Social Responsibility’.

The expanded awards have been created to give wider recognition to all the great advances and technologies coming out of the pharma industry. And, having undergone a thorough review with an expanded panel of jury members, CPHI has tailored the new categories to accurately accommodate and classify the expanding innovations, services and solutions emerging from this dynamic industry.

Entries are free of charge and the submission deadline is the 14th August 2016 — no entries submitted after this date will be valid for consideration — with finalists announced in September. CPHI is encouraging as many pharma innovators, leaders and providers as possible to enter the awards, which are uniquely designed to honour, reward and celebrate our industry’s most significant achievements and developments.

The benefits of entering are recognition amongst industry peers and luminaries within the global CPHI Pharma Awards campaign — including communications to an internal database of over 100,000 pharma professionals — with the winners unveiled at CPHI Worldwide (2–4 October, 2016) during the CPHI Pharma Awards Gala. Finalists will also receive a unique profile of their award entry within the CPHI Show daily and winners will be press released to the pharmaceutical industry media — giving these outstanding contributions the global recognition they deserve.

The returning categories in 2016 are ‘Excellence in Pharma: CEO of the Year’, ‘Excellence in Pharma: Packaging’, ‘Excellence in Pharma: Supply Chain, Logistics, and Distribution’ and ‘Excellence in Pharma: Manufacturing Technology and Equipment’. Finally, ‘Excellence in Pharma: Bioprocessing’, and ‘Excellence in Pharma: Contract Services and Outsourcing’ will complete the categories.

“We are excited to enter the 13th year of recognising innovation and thought leadership in the pharma industry and this year we have opened up four new categories to ensure we fully cover the breadth of exceptional applications. In 2015, we had an extraordinary, record-breaking number of entries, growing 100% from 2014 — this year we expect the number to rise still further. The CPHI Pharma Awards provide an excellent platform for honouring individuals and companies who push the boundaries to develop solutions to the industry’s most pressing needs. The new categories give us the scope to recognise the best in pharma,” said Andreas Mavrommatis, Marketing Director Pharma, UBM EMEA.
