It appears as white or light yellow, free
flowing hygroscopic powder, odorless or with faint characteristic odor. It is insoluble in water, alkali, acid and
common organic solvents. It has strong swellability and can complex with polyphenols, carboxylic acid and
other compounds with low molecular weight.
