English pharmaceutical company wins new £5 cash injection

England's Oxford Pharmascience has secured fresh funding for its research and development efforts.

Oxford Pharmascience has announced it has received a fresh injection of funding as it works to develop new ways of delivering and administering a range of pharmaceutical products.
The company, which last year signed an agreement with pharmaceutical giant Bayer over the rights to licence drugs in Brazil, has secured around £5 million in fresh investment.
Much of this will be injected into its research and development unit, with scientists at the English company working to devise innovative new ways of making drugs easier for patients to take.
Welcoming the development, Oxford Pharmascience chief executive Nigel Theobald noted that the cash injection will give the company balance, adding that it also "helps our credibility and will enable us to make better commercial deals".
Among the Derbyshire company's most recent innovations are soft, chewable tablets, designed to be both palatable to the patient while also offering precise drug delivery.
