Nussbaum’s tube factory in Kesswil, Switzerland, celebrates its 100th birthday

All started on 7th October 1920 when PRESSTA AG – Nussbaum Kesswil AG's former name – was established with the scope to manufacture 15,000 lead and tin tubes annually. In 1929 first hulls made from aluminium were manufactured and since 1972 aluminium tubes have been run on fully-automated production lines. The company was incorporated by E. Nussbaum Holding in 1992 and became a member of the Nussbaum Group.

Today, Nussbaum Kesswil AG is producing high-quality aluminium tubes in various formats suiting 3ml to 200ml fill volumes and sells its products worldwide. The company became ISO 15378 (primary packaging materials for medicinal products) certified in 2017 and is focusing on the production of tubes for the healthcare industry. Around 90% of the tubes are produced for pharmaceutical purposes. The company is equipped for clean room usage packaging and offers radiation or ETO treatment on request.

Nussbaum however is not only a well-known producer of aluminium tubes but also an active player in the aluminium can industry. In three plants in Switzerland and Germany, the company has manufactured aluminium cans for more than 50 years, offering a production capacity of 350 million cans annually. Nussbaum’s main products are aerosol cans from small sizes suiting 17ml brimful up to big cans holding 650ml. Nussbaum’s portfolio also includes Pill Can, Screw Cans and two-chamber pressure packs. Also in the can business, the pharmaceutical industry is a key market for Nussbaum.
