Report Reveals Fall in Venture Capital Investment in US Biotech And Pharma Start-ups
There has been a fall in venture capital investment in the life sciences industry in the US.
Venture capital investors in the US are showing decreased interest in biotech and pharmaceutical start-ups, a report has found.
Both the total amount of money invested and the overall number of deals fell during the second quarter of 2012, according to the latest quarterly MoneyTree Report from PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA).
The report, which measures venture capital investments in private emerging companies in the US and is based on data from Thomson Reuters, revealed that venture capitalists invested $1.4 billion in 174 deals in the second quarter of the year.
