Sanofi-Aventis Changes Name to Sanofi
French pharmaceutical group Sanofi-Aventis has abandoned its double-barreled name it acquired along with Aventis in 2004.
French drugmaker Sanofi-Aventis has decided to change its name to just Sanofi, which will take place immediately.
According to chief executive Chris Viehbacher, the change will make the name simpler, while spokesman Jean-Marc Podvin added that it would make the company’s name easier to pronounce in some countries, including emerging markets where Sanofi is seeking expansion.
