US Biopharmaceuticals Have Almost 200 Mental Illness Drugs in Development
There are almost 200 biopharmaceutical products for mental illness in development in the US at this time.
Biopharmaceutical research companies in the US are currently working on almost 200 medicines for mental illness, excluding those in development for Alzheimer's disease.
A new report from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) reveals that scientists are developing 52 drugs for depression; 37 for schizophrenia; and 26 for anxiety disorders.
It is hoped that at least some of these innovative experimental medicines will be approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and help the nearly 60 million people in the US with mental illnesses.
