GELAFUSAL (Modified Fluid Gelatin in Ringer's Acetate Solution)

GELAFUSAL is a modified fluid (succinylated) gelatin in Ringer's Acetate solution. The starting material for the production of GELAFUSAL is a certified and partially hydrolysed gelatin with an average molecular weight, Mw, of around 120,000 Daltons. An optimized and validated production process ensures that the average molecular weight and the molecular weight distribution of the individual production batches are kept within narrow tolerance limits. GELAFUSAL is authorized as a colloidal plasma substitute for use in the treatment of hypovolaemia and thromboembolism prophylaxis. Gelatin products are particularly suitable for extracorporeal circulation during bypass operations or for artificial kidneys.
