Educational support for the freeze drying community
SP Scientific has announced their next series of educational events to be held during 2016 for scientists involved with lyophilization.
Information and registration details for these upcoming events, which include LyoLearn webinars, seminars and hands-on training courses, is available through the SP LyoTech Center. In addition to upcoming events, the LyoTech Center offers a comprehensive repository of previously recorded webinars; informative articles and technical papers; and a variety of free tools and programs to assist freeze dryer users.
LyoLearn webinars are free online seminars based on topics of interest to lyophilization scientists and presented by industry experts. The monthly live sessions allow participants to interact with renowned freeze-drying specialists, such as Dr John Carpenter, Dr Steve Nail, Dr Michael Pikal and other leading experts from the freeze-drying community. Up-and-coming Lyolearn webinar topics include 'Heterogeneity in Frozen and Desiccated Formulations' presented by Dr Alptekin Aksan from the University of Minnesota, 'Experimental Aspects of Measuring the Vial Heat Transfer Coefficient in Pharmaceutical Freeze Drying' presented by Dr Lindsay Wegiel at Baxter Pharmaceutical Solutions, LLC, and ‘Dynamic Vapor Sorption: Quantifying the Amorphous Phase in a Partially Crystalline Freeze Dried Product' presented by Claudia Kunz from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg.
Another important component of SP’s educational program is in-person training events. Lyophilization equipment is a significant investment, and in an effort to help organizations maximize the return on their investment, SP Scientific has developed a program of courses to assure personnel are fully trained in instrument operation and maintenance.
In May 2016 the popular 4-day hands-on training course ‘Lyophilization Cycle Development & Optimization’, presented by Dr Jeff Schwegman, will focus on following the freeze drying process from formulation and thermal analysis to cycle development and optimization, packaging and troubleshooting. Attendees will have the chance to optimize their learning experience by using tangible applications in a controlled setting.
