Lesjöfors Group Leads Industry with SBTi Climate Target Validation
Lesjöfors Group becomes first spring manufacturer to be validated by SBTi
In a groundbreaking achievement for the spring manufacturing sector, Lesjöfors Group has become the first spring and pressing manufacturer globally to have its near-term climate targets officially validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This recognition marks a significant step in the company’s commitment to climate action and aligns its strategy with the goals of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
Ambitious Climate Goals for a Sustainable Future Lesjöfors has pledged to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42% by 2030, using 2022 as the baseline year. These emissions include direct operations and energy use across its facilities.
In addition, the company is targeting a 52% reduction in Scope 3 emissions per SEK value added—focusing on indirect emissions from its value chain, such as raw material sourcing and transportation.
“It’s our responsibility to lead with purpose and action,” says a speaker from the Lesjöfors Group. “Our validated roadmap to 2030 reflects our commitment to sustainable transformation and accountability. This milestone brings pride to our 2,800 employees and strengthens our resolve to drive meaningful change.”
Collaborative Action Across the Value Chain
With over 70% of CO₂ emissions linked to raw materials used in metal component manufacturing, Lesjöfors is actively working to:
- Increase the use of recycled metals
- Lower the carbon footprint of raw materials
- Support sector-wide improvements in transport and steel production
The group has already made significant progress through investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy across its 50+ global sites.
“Reducing CO₂ emissions by 2030 isn’t just a goal—it’s a necessity,” says Anna Haesert, Head of Sustainability. “By collecting data across our value chain and making informed decisions, we’re ensuring our strategy is both effective and collaborative.”
Sustainability-Driven Innovation Lesjöfors is also enhancing its product development process, working closely with customers and suppliers to:
- Increase the share of recycled materials
- Develop low-carbon metal alternatives
- Embed sustainability into every stage of design and production
“Science-based targets are essential for building resilient, responsible businesses,” says Haesert. “We’re proud to lead the way in our industry, helping customers make more sustainable choices while strengthening our own environmental performance.”
With SBTi validation, Lesjöfors sets a new benchmark for sustainability in spring manufacturing—proving that industrial innovation and climate responsibility can go hand in hand.
