Neuland secures development collaboration with LIR Life Sciences for transdermal GLP-1
Neuland Laboratories Limited has entered into a development collaboration with LIR Life Sciences Corp to advance a novel transdermal GLP-1/GIP therapy platform for obesity. The partnership highlights Neuland’s growing expertise in peptide development and manufacturing, supporting the development of innovative cell-penetrating peptide (CPP) technologies designed to enable non-invasive drug delivery.
Neuland Laboratories Limited has announced a development partnership with LIR Life Sciences Corp, a Canadian biotechnology company focused on scalable and accessible obesity therapies. Under the agreement, Neuland will develop, test, and manufacture cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) to support pharmacokinetic (PK), pharmacodynamic (PD), and Phase I development activities for LIR Life’s transdermal GLP-1/GIP program.
The collaboration supports the advancement of a patch-based transdermal delivery system designed to offer a non-invasive alternative to injectable GLP-1 therapies. By enabling drug delivery through the skin, the platform has the potential to improve patient convenience, adherence, and accessibility while addressing growing demand for obesity treatments. Currently, no transdermal GLP-1 therapies have been approved, making this an innovative approach within the metabolic disease landscape.
For Neuland, the partnership underscores its expanding capabilities in peptide development and manufacturing, including expertise in complex peptide modalities and advanced delivery technologies. The company provides integrated support across process development, scale-up, and cGMP manufacturing, helping innovators progress peptide programs from early development through commercialization.
The collaboration also builds on Neuland’s recent investments in peptide infrastructure, including a new commercial peptide manufacturing facility and a dedicated process development center in Hyderabad. Together, these capabilities strengthen Neuland’s ability to support emerging peptide-based therapies and innovative drug delivery platforms for global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
