Sharp makes land acquisition to expand cGMP packaging capacity

This land purchase is part of a $17 million capacity expansion, which Sharp said will enable it to add capacity to meet future demand for cGMP packaging services.

The transaction is also part of a wider $43 million investment into the company's Pennsylvania operations, which will increase its blister packaging capacity by more than 35% this year.

To date, the Conshohocken investment includes the construction and fit out of six new primary GMP rooms as well as fit out for secondary packaging and installation of new blister lines.

Only last month, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced and supported Sharp's plan to increase manufacturing capacity by upgrading and partially re-purposing some of its four-facility Allentown campus, upgrade and obtain new machinery and equipment for its two-facility Conshohocken site, and make building improvements and obtain new machinery and equipment at its recently acquired 170,000-sq ft. facility in Macungie Borough.

In addition, Sharp expects to receive a $1.25 million state grant and a $140,000 grant to assist with worker training.
