SHL Medical achieves ISCC Plus Certification for Taiwan sites

SHL Medical is proud to announce that three of its production facilities in Taiwan have been awarded the ISCC Plus certification for bio-based and circular materials. This accomplishment marks a significant advancement in SHL Medical’s sustainability roadmap and strengthens its ability to develop eco-designed drug-delivery devices.

The ISCC Plus certification is a globally recognized chain-of-custody standard that ensures sustainable sourcing and traceability of bio-based and circular materials. It verifies that certified materials meet strict environmental, social, and greenhouse gas reduction criteria throughout the supply chain.

The certification covers materials used in autoinjector components at three of SHL Medical’s sites in Taiwan. It enables a transition from fossil-based polymers to certified bio-based and bio-circular feedstocks, following the mass balance approach. By adopting these materials, SHL Medical is helping customers reduce their carbon footprint related to material sourcing. This advancement can support partners in meeting their sustainability targets and substantiate claims that their medical devices contain bio-based content. This accomplishment is part of SHL Medical’s broader sustainability strategy and represents a key step toward more sustainable devices.

“We are proud to join the growing community of ISCC Plus–certified suppliers,” said Dora Rio, Head of Sustainability at SHL Medical. “This certification is a testament to our investment in sustainable materials and our dedication to delivering high-quality, environmentally responsible solutions for our customers.”

This certification underscores SHL Medical’s commitment to driving sustainable innovation and supporting our partners in achieving their environmental goals.
