SHL Medical supports sustainable agriculture in Africa with donation

SHL Medical is proud to support a transformative initiative led by ChildFund International, Barnfonden, and Swedish greentech company Spowdi, aimed at empowering small-hold farmers in Kenya.

Small-hold farmers produce one-third of the world’s food supply. Yet, they face mounting challenges from drought, water scarcity and declining crop yields - threats that endanger their livelihood and the well-being of their families and communities.

A new initiative by ChildFund International, Barnfonden, and Spowdi aims to equip 470 farms in Kenya with solar-powered irrigation systems, enabling farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture, grow more food with less water and build the resilience to shift from surviving to thriving. SHL Medical, the pioneering leader in self-injection solutions, is donating US$ 150,000 to this cause, with an additional US$ 250,000 donated by SHL Medical Founder Roger Samuelsson, bringing the total contribution to US$ 400,000.

This is not SHL Medical’s first step in supporting sustainable agriculture. Already in 2022, the company partnered with Spowdi and the Water Drop Initiative making US$ 100,000 worth of Spowdi irrigation pumps and training hours available to female small-hold farmers in India.
