Lippia Citriodora cell culture extract.Verbascoside (VB), also named Acteoside, is a phenylpropanoid glycosides water-soluble classified.
The plant extracts, titled in VB, possesses broad-spectrum anti-inflammatory, anti-hypertensive, anti-asthmatic, anti-oxidative and immunotoxin properties. VB downregulates expression and activity of NOS and COX-2 enzymes and inhibits the activation of TAK-1/JNK/AP-1 signaling pathway by tyrosine phosphatase SHP-1 activation. Several studies have also shown that VB inhibits also NFкB pathways and the downstream expression of primary pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-1, IL-6 and TNF-α. Our internal study shows p62 upregulation in autophagy induction, suggesting an important anti-aging activity.

Recently, VB has shown a potent antiviral effect against Respiratory Syncytial Virus RSV, Herpes Simplex Virus HSV-1 and HSV-2.
