Explosionproof or Flameproof heaters are used in area where there is existence of flammable gases, ignitable fibers, pulverized dusts or vapours in the atmosphere where it is installed. Hazardous situations are created from the processes of oils, coals, grains & volatile chemicals. In such environments, the heating equipment is required to be explosionproof or flameproof. Certain criteria to meet the explosionproof rating depends on the casing of the heaters which prevents sparks from escaping & igniting surrounding vapours, gases, dusts or fibers present in the atmosphere.
