Product Description

Fluorouracil (5-FU) is a medication used in the treatment of cancer. It belongs to the family of antimetabolites (cell division inhibitors) and is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines (compiling the most important medicines needed in a basic health system). 
5-FU prevents the replication of DNA and RNA. It works through irreversible inhibition of thymidylate synthase, whereas "ordinary" pyrimidine bases inhibit the protein biosynthesis and cell proliferation.
