Galanthamine bromide is an alkaloid extracted from the tuberous plant Leucojum aestivum L. from the Amaryllidaceae family or bulbs of narcissus Carlton. It is manufactured as Galanthamine hydrobromide. Galanthamine bromide substance is used in the manufacturing of finished human medicines with oral and parental application, which is strong (reversible) cholinesterase inhibitor, increasing the susceptibility of the organism to acetylcholine, for treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
