Cytel opens new Swiss office

Cytel has increased its global presence by opening a new office in Geneva.

Cytel Inc, a provider of clinical research services, has opened a new office in Geneva, Switzerland.

The company already has bases in Boston, Philadelphia, Providence, Paris, Pune and Hyderabad, and the new office will support the growing demand for clinical research and biostatistical consulting capabilities in Europe.

One of its statistical software packages, East, is used by all 25 of the largest pharmaceutical companies, while many pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients rely on Cytel's functional outsourcing business.

Irving Dark, vice-president of clinical research services, said: "The opening of our Geneva office builds on our established business in Europe and allows us to support locally-based clients with an experienced team of biostatisticians and programmers.

"This team, all formerly with Merck Serono, brings considerable industry experience and therapeutic knowledge to Cytel's Clinical Research Services business."

Cytel's methods help pharmaceutical companies to improve the design and implementation of their clinical trials and to satisfy the demands of regulatory authorities.
