Bio-based Tetrahydrofuran

At room temperature, it is a colorless volatile liquid with a smell similar to ether. It is soluble in water, ethanol, ether, acetone, benzene and most other organic solvents. At room temperature, it can partially mix with water. It has the characteristics of low toxicity, low boiling point and good fluidity. 

1. It is used for synthesizing polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG), which in turn is used to produce elastic spandex fibers. 2. Tetrahydrofuran is an excellent solvent; 
3. It is used as a raw material for organic synthesis to produce tetrahydrothiophene, 1.4-dichloroethane, 2.3-dichlorotetrahydrofuran, butyl lactone, butyl lactyl, and pyrrolidone, etc. It has extensive applications in the field of medicine. 
4. Chromatographic solvents (gel permeation chromatography), used for flavoring natural gas, extracting acetylene, and stabilizing polymers under light conditions, etc.
