Haemocoagulase - Reptilase

Reptilase® is Pentapharm's trademark for Haemocoagulase, a purified enzyme system from Bothrops atrox snake venom. This system is toxin-free and includes two enzymes that aid coagulation:

- A thrombin-like serine protease that cleaves fibrinogen to produce Fibrinopeptide A and Fibrin I monomer.

- A thromboplastin-like metalloprotein that activates Factor X (FX) to FXa at lesion sites.

In vitro, Haemocoagulase coagulates fibrinogen and activates Factor X in the presence of platelet factor 3. In vivo, therapeutic doses do not cause intravasal coagulation but promote haemostasis by forming a complex with native fibrinogen.

Reptilase® injection shortens bleeding and coagulation times and has been used for haemostasis since the 1950s for various types of bleeding, including:

- Pulmonary

- Oral

- Traumatic

- Postoperative

- Other internal and external hemorrhages
