Ibiamox (250 mg injection)

IBIAMOX contains amoxicillin, an antibiotic belonging to a group of medicines called penicillins. Amoxycillin is (6R)-6-[alpha-D-(4-Hydroxy-phenyl)glycylamino]penicillanic acid. This medicine works by killing the bacteria that cause infection. It is used to treat infections caused by a variety of bacteria, prevent blood infection due to procedures such as dental extractions in patients who are at risk of developing endocarditis. Endocarditis is inflammation (pain, heat, swelling or redness) of the endocardium, a membrane that covers the inside surface of the heart). IBIAMOX will not work against infections caused by viruses such as colds or the flu. IBIAMOX is used to treat only infections that will respond to it. Some infections are resistant to the effects of IBIAMOX. Presentation: White to cream powder packed in clear glass vials. Upon reconstitution the solutions may initially be red but rapidly become clear to pale yellow in colour. Dosage: (1) Upper Respiratory Tract Infections: For Adults 250mg every 8 hours, For Children (under 20kg) 25mg/kg/day in equally divided doses every 8 hours. (2) Genito-Urinary Tract Infections: For Adults 250mg every 8 hours, For Children (under 20kg) 25mg/kg/day in equally divided doses every 8 hours. (3) Skin and Soft Tissue Infections: For Adults 250mg every 8 hours, For Children: (under 20kg) 25mg/kg/day in equally divided doses every 8 hours. (4) Lower Respiratory Tract Infections: For Adults 500mg every 8 hours, For Children (under 20kg) 50mg/kg/day in equally divided doses every 12 hours.
