The chemical formula of this compound is CH3(CH2)3Cl, and is usually known as Butyl chloride. Upon a reaction with nanocrystallized MgO with temperatures between 200 and 350 o C, it produces isomers of butane and magnesium chloride (MgCl2) via a dehydrochlorination reaction. It is mostly applicable in HPLC analysis.
