Maltose PH

Maltose is a reducing disaccharide consisting of two glucose molecules linked by an α-1,4 bond. It can be used by the CHO-K1 cells as a carbon source to maintain culture viability and IgG production upon glucose depletion. It works as stabilizer of IgG. Maltose as energy source in protein-free CHO-K1 culture improves the production (or productivity) of recombinant monoclonal antibodies. In parenteral products, maltose may be used as a source of sugar, particularly for diabetic patients. Crystalline maltose can be used also as a direct-compression tablet excipient in chewable and non-chewable tablets. Maltose works great as solubility enhancer and stabilizer of freeze-dried anti-cancer agents for injection.
