Erythropoetin α 2,000 IU/0.5 ml, 4,000 IU/0.5 ml and 10,000 IU/1 ml EPO is used to treat anemia in patient with chronic kidney failure, patient receiving HIV treatment, and patient receiving chemotherapy for some types of cancer. It also be used in anemic patients to reduce the need for blood transfusions surgeries that have a high risk of blood loss.
