Pharmaceutical Development Base, Barbados

Pharmaceutical Development Base, Barbados
Product Description

Place your generic development work in Barbados: stability testing, bioequivalence and reformulation. IP income is taxed at 4.5 per cent, and development spend carries a 50 per cent R&D credit and a 25 per cent productivity and innovation credit.

Barbados sits in ICH Zone IVb. That matters for stability and reformulation work: 30°C and 75 per cent humidity is the condition your product has to survive, not a chamber setting. The Patents Act Chapter 314 carries the Bolar exception, so bioequivalence work can start before a patent expires.

The island is English-speaking, common law, and within working hours of both Europe and the US east coast. No manufacturing commitment attached.

BPI is building the pieces. Zone IVb stability testing, a regional bioequivalence centre, and reformulation for tropical stability and paediatric dosing. We want partners who will place development work here and shape what gets built.

  • Tropical and Paediatric Reformulation, Barbados

Product Tropical and Paediatric Reformulation, Barbados

A formulation that performs in a temperate market does not automatically perform in a tropical one. Products registered into Zone IVb markets face 30°C and 75% relative humidity as a baseline storage condition, and reformulation is often the difference between a viable shelf life and a failed submissio...

Product CARICOM Market Access and Regulatory Pathway

CARICOM is a set of markets with no single registration route. Manufacturers who could serve the region often do not, because the pathway is unclear and no one market justifies the effort on its own.

  • Regional Bioequivalence Centre for CARICOM, Barbados

Product Regional Bioequivalence Centre for CARICOM, Barbados

Generic manufacturers registering into CARICOM run their bioequivalence studies outside the region or through a small number of bridging facilities elsewhere in the Caribbean. Either route adds cost and schedule to every submission, with in vivo studies running to six figures per product.

Product Route to Market: CARICOM and Regional Public Procurement

CARICOM is fifteen markets and most manufacturers skip it, because no single one justifies a registration on its own.

  • Stability Testing, ICH Zone IVb (30°C / 75% RH), Barbados

Product Stability Testing, ICH Zone IVb (30°C / 75% RH), Barbados

Products registered across the Caribbean, Brazil, India and the ASEAN markets require stability data generated at ICH Zone IVb conditions, 30°C ±2°C and 75% relative humidity ±5%. Data from a European laboratory at 25°C and 60% RH will not satisfy those regulators.

    Barbados sits in Zone I...
