Traditional laboratory instruments such as clinostats can mimic certain aspects of spaceflight, but cannot fully replicate the conditions. It has been widely acknowledged that many intriguing findings in simulated microgravity result from fluid motions or mechanical stressors. However, there is a significant subset of cellular experiments in simulated microgravity that exhibit similar outcomes to those conducted in space. Exploiting these two worlds leads to a myriad of use cases relevant for terrestrial applications.
