Arena & Eisai Expand Lorcaserin Marketing & Supply Agreement
Arena and Eisai have announced an expansion to their original marketing and supply agreement for weight-loss drug candidate lorcaserin.
Arena Pharmaceuticals GmbH and Eisai Inc have expanded their marketing and supply agreement for lorcaserin, an investigational weight-loss aid.
The agreement now includes most of north and south America, including the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.
Originally, the agreement executed between the two companies in July 2010 only gave Eisai the rights to market and distribute the drug candidate in the US, subject to its approval by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Lonnel Coats, president and chief executive officer of Eisai, said: "Obesity is a condition that transcends geographic boundaries.
