Clinical Trial Data Quality 'Similar' across Regions
Clinical trials conducted in developing regions appear to produce just as high-quality data as those performed in developed parts of the world.
There are no significant differences between the quality of data obtained from clinical trials in developing parts of the world and results generated in developed regions, a study has found.
Dr Pankaj Desai, from the University of Cincinnati's Drug Development Graduate Programme, studied the results of 26 large multi-regional phase-II and III clinical trials, involving almost 64,000 individuals.
Publishing his findings in the Drug Information Journal, Dr Desai's statistical evaluation concluded there were "no significant differences in data quality" across regions.
The outcome was welcomed by Dr Doug Peddicord, executive director of the Association of Clinical Research Organisations.
