Dr Reddy's And Merck Announce Biosimilars Collaboration
Dr Reddy's Laboratories and Merck Serono will work together to develop cheaper versions of cancer biologics.
Dr Reddy's Laboratories has announced a new collaboration with Merck Serono which will see the two companies work together to develop biosimilars in the field of oncology.
In particular, the companies hope to develop low-cost generic versions of monoclonal antibodies (MABs) for use when their patents have expired.
Dr Reddy's - which has already launched four biosimilar molecules - will take the lead on early product development and phase-I clinical testing.
After this, Merck Serono will lead phase-III development and take over the manufacture of the compounds.
