Golden Cup Balm
Golden Cup Balm is in semi-solid dosage form, a yellow ointment with predominantly wintergreen odor.
There are three active ingredients, Camphor is a stimulant, rubefacient, antipruritic and feebly antiseptic. When in combination with other ingredient like menthol, methyl salicylate, it becomes ideal for neuralgia and other painful areas. Menthol dilates the blood vessels causing a sensation of coldness, followed by an analgesic effect. Menthol also acts as a penetration enhancer, increasing the penetration of drugs when applied on the skin, to give a faster onset of action. And methyl salicylate is a salicylic acid derivative. Salicylates inhibit cyclooxygenase, thereby reducing the formation of prostaglandins, and cause platelet dysfunction Methyl salicylate is used topically as a counterirritant. Upon application, it is absorbed through the skin and is applied for the relief of pain in rheumatic conditions and painful muscle or joints.
Golden Cup Balm is used for fast and effective relief from fatigue, muscular pain, sprains, nausea, dizziness, nasal congestion, insect bites, stings, nettle rash. Apply liberally to affected area not more than 3 to 4 times daily, topically on affected area for relief of symptoms.
Golden Cup Balm contains Methyl Salicylate, Menthol and Camphor as active ingredients and therefore patients with the history of hypersensitive to these ingredients should not use this product. Golden Cup Balm is for external use only and should be avoided using this product on open wounds, damaged skin, mucous membrane, and eyes. It is not advisable to use this product on children under 3 years old.
For pregnancy and lactation, no significant problems have been reported upon topically application of this type of products.
