The fine chemicals landscape has been continuously evolving over the last three decades. Today, we experience yet again a major paradigm shift in our industry. One of the recent triggers has been Covid, accelerating ongoing trends such as consolidation and balancing supply chains, big pharma companies intensifying their outsourcing activities, different kinds of drugs and requirements for APIs driven by personalized medicine, biologicals and recently, oligonucleotides such as mRNA vaccines.

Since its foundation in 1988 by our Executive Chairman, Jai Hiremath, Hikal has come a long way and defines itself today as a technology and customer orientation driven provider. With a total reactor capacity of over 3800 m3 across five manufacturing facilities in India at Maharashtra (Taloja and Mahad), Gujarat (Panoli) and Bengaluru (Jigani) and a world-class Research & Technology centre at Pune, Hikal has successfully established a strong foothold in multiple businesses – Pharmaceuticals, Crop Protection, Animal Health, Food Ingredients and Specialty Chemicals.
Hikal is a leading manufacturer of intermediates and APIs with capability spanning from an R&D to a pilot scale, before gradually scaling up our capacity to the commercial stage. Our facilities have been inspected and certified by the Global Regulatory Authorities including the USFDA and we proudly stand out as one of the few Indian manufacturers that has an impeccable regulatory track record with the global authorities.
