Study suggests hTee can improve patient management

The unique hTee technology can aid patient management for those undergoing heart surgery.

Multiple studies suggest that the technology hTee can improve management of patients in critical care.

Developed by ImaCor Inc, hTee is marketed as the world's only hemodynamic transesophageal echocardiography technology. Used in care for heart surgery, hTee allows users to see a direct visualisation of heart size and function over a period of time.

It can also provide imaging information for how changes can affect patient management, such as switching their ventilator or mechanical circulatory support settings. This imaging information can also aid with "safe rapid titration of fluid inotropes and vasopressors" and managing the heart's right ventricle effectively.

Intensive Care Medicine reported a study of 94 patients, where 66 per cent demonstrated "a direct therapeutic impact". Additionally, a study from Vanderbilt University Medical Centre in the US, published in the August issue of the Journal of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Anesthesia, revealed that hTee helped identify RV dysfunction early on in 33 per cent of patients undergoing complex open heart surgery.

hTee is currently used to aid with perioperative and intensive care treatment in 25 hospitals across Europe and in the US.
