DAOhead

DAOhead® is a Food for Special Medical Purposes (EU) / Food Supplement (non-EU) whose main active ingredient is the DiAmine Oxidase enzyme or DAO. It is used in the dietary management of DAO deficiency when the predominant symptoms are neurological: migraine, headache and tinnitus. 
DAOhead® provides the intake of exogenous DAO necessary to restore the metabolism of histamine. 87% of migraine headaches are caused by the DAO deficit, so proper DAO supplementation allows dietary management of its symptoms.

DAOhead® Eficaps® capsules contain gastro-resistant pellets with DAO controlled-release in the intestine that prevent stomach acid pH and pellets with immediate release of vitamin B9 (folic acid), vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), vitamin B12 ( cobalamin) and caffeine that act as adjuvants in the dietary management of migraine and other headaches. Folates and vitamin B12 have a fundamental role in controlling homocysteine ​​levels in blood, and consequently in reducing the frequency and severity of migraine. Also, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) improves the function of DAO, acting as a cofactor for the enzyme. For its part, the caffeine acts as an analgesic and its effect is based on its vasoconstrictor action that counteracts the vasodilator effect of histamine.

The European Commission declared DAO as an "Authorized Novel Food" in 2019 • It is therefore a new product, registered in EU as a “Dietary Food for Special Medical Purposes” (FSMP), and in US as a “New Dietary Ingredient” (NDI) • Regulatory environment enables the company to benefit from multiple distribution channels for maximum market penetration
